This song is about dealing with conflicting feelings about someone who is no longer a physical presence in the person’s life. This song isn’t autobiographical for me (at least, I don’t think it is), but most of us can probably relate to some of the conflicted feelings that the person has.

The initial seeds of ideas for songs often initially seem to lack any meaning or relevance. As the idea turns into a song, it often becomes apparent that the initial idea wasn’t actually meaningless and that it contains a message from the subconscious. I’m still not sure where this idea came from but the line “tired of your ghost” came right away, along with the line “I’m so tied up and lonely now”. The rest of the song was built around those ideas.
